Banting House National Historic Site of Canada is a busy museum that receives visitors from around the world many of whom live on insulin. We are totally run by volunteers except for our curator so we have a very large volunteer group to manage. As co-volunteer coordinator you will be working closely with the current coordinator as you go through your training. You will be expected to provide tours to the public, process sales in the gift shop and help to organize and work special events. You will also be taking over monthly scheduling of volunteers and you will need to be on call weekends in case one of your volunteers is sick and can't do their shift. You would then have to find a replacement or cover the shift yourself. This would be a perfect position for someone who is newly retired or on disablility as we want you to be able to stay for several years and possibly take over the full role of volunteer coordinator down the road. We are looking for someone with experience working with young people, as many of our volunteers are students as well as scheduling/organizational experience.
